About the role

Our HC Operations Managers sit within our HC Operations Management Team which is comprised of Senior Managers, Managers, Advisors and Associates.

Our HC Operations Management team is made up of three pillars; People Excellence, People Experience and First Five years. Below provides a summary of a HC Operations Manager role within each of the three pillars;

People Excellence collaborate with the business partnering teams across the Firm to drive consistent and efficient delivery of cyclical activity relating to performance (including underperformance), reward & talent with the greatest impact. This involves having close relationships with stakeholders at all levels with the business area you support, managing data collection & analytics and logistics in preparation for moderation meetings and talent review groups, and supporting business stakeholders during these meetings. It also includes managing the firms informal underperformance process, providing review and quality assurance to various qualitative and quantitative people data sets and being an escalation point for complex matters in respect of the annual and mid term salary reviews and talent management infrastructure as well as addressing queries raised by our business partnering teams.

In addition this role works with our specialist People Teams to determine and roll out key firmwide principles and guidelines in respect of talent and reward cycles.

People Experience delivers cyclical processes and workforce administration across the Firm with enhanced efficiency where possible. This includes working closely with the contract manager for our outsource HC delivery team, escalating service issues and areas for development. This role has oversight of, and is the escalation point in respect of complex matters relating to all aspects of the employee life cycle from hire to retire as well as providing review and quality assurance to various data and reporting sets.

In addition to the workforce administration element of this role the individual is responsible for ensuring consistent analysis of employee engagement survey results and for providing support and subject matter expertise in respect of the operationalisation of strategy and initiatives in relation to Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing.

First Five Years collaborate with the business partnering teams across the Firm to ensure the consistent delivery of standardised cyclical activity relating to our below manager populations with the greatest impact. This includes leading on the delivery of key communications to our First Five Years population and other key stakeholders. Providing review and quality assurance to various qualitative and quantitative people data sets and responding to general queries relating to the Performance and Reward cycle for FFY population.This role will also work closely with other PwC People Teams to deliver on new initiatives for the FFY populations.

We operate an agile resourcing model across the HC functions and so there is opportunity to gain experience in each of the 3 pillars throughout a career in HC at PwC.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • CIPD qualified/part qualified or equivalent is desirable
  • Previous experience in an HR generalist role, ideally at manager level.
  • Team management experience is advantageous
  • Commercial understanding of a large organisation and how HR can enhance performance via the people agenda
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and work streams to tight deadlines
  • Ability to plan ahead within the cyclical calendar to provide proactive HR support to the business
  • Technically curious - desire to develop own digital intelligence and capabilities, and support the adoption of technologies to support the business and HC
  • Strong excel skills and the ability to efficiently manipulate and interpret data
  • Ability to challenge and realign work away from the HC team where necessary
  • High standard of written documentation, and previous experience of producing professional and robust letters and reports
  • Deal with a wide range of people and stakeholders in am empathetic and courteous manner
  • Flexibility and adaptability in both attitude and approach
  • Cultivate trust with customers, team members and others within the wider HC function
  • Responsibility for developing own knowledge and future career progression within the HC function
