Summary

Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Infrastructure Services Manager to shape and develop mission critical infrastructure services for Historic England and English Heritage as we transition to new cloud technologies and adoption of the modern digital workplace.

What you will be doing:

In this pivotal role, you will use your IT leadership and management skills to optimise team performance, help us improve processes & procedures and play a central role in our investment in and development of enterprise IT services including an active Microsoft Azure and 365 roll out programme and the continuous improvement of service security, reliability and resilience.

You will be involved in developing our exciting project portfolio, using either on-premise or cloud services, working closely with our technical governance team and business partners to develop our architectural roadmap. This will give you a key role in the planning, preparation and successful execution of our IT infrastructure investment plans. This will include the development and implementation of business productivity, collaboration, communication and security solutions and helping us to leverage the power of mobility solutions empowering our field based operations with apps and services that provide on-the-spot real time data insight and planning tools as they visit and care for the nations most important historic places.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven experience of managing and motivating a team of IT specialists to deliver enterprise services against SLAs
  • Practical working experience of Microsoft cloud technologies, including Azure and Microsoft 365 services
  • Experience in managing budgets and obtaining value for money and implementing cost efficiencies
  • Able to pay close attention to detail without losing sight of the overall aims and objectives when drafting or reviewing policy, guidance or agreements
  • A deep knowledge of IT technologies and issues
  • Able to work with people in a variety of roles, different levels and with third party contract staff
