About the role:

Applicants welcome from anywhere in the US, although will be required to work closely, and align hours, with San Francisco team.

Marin's Data Platform team builds our core data infrastructure including transactional data (OLTP), metric data (OLAP) and the related ETL pipelines. Our platform is built running on CDH, using HBase, Phoenix and Presto, and we make heavy use of Spark, Spark Streaming, HDFS, Kafka, Oozie, ZooKeeper and Yarn.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain our data access layer (services) that sits between our application services and our OLAP and OLTP datastores
  • Enhance and maintain our framework support services
  • Design, build, and unit-test object-oriented, scalable, and maintainable services on top of the Hadoop ecosystem and RDBMS
  • Actively monitor, optimize, tune and configure the service performance
Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Significant (likely 3-5 years) development experiences for microservices in Java
  • Familiarity with most of the following: RDBMS, RESTful API, Hibernate, HBase, Phoenix, Hive, and Presto
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Enjoy troubleshooting production issues related to big-data platforms
  • Experience with Kafka, YARN, Spark a plus
