Marketing and communications assistant (part-time)
London South Teaching School Hub was designated in 2021 to provide professional development and support to schools in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark . Before becoming a Hub, we were London South Teaching School Alliance and before that, Southwark Teaching School Alliance. We work with schools and partner organisations to deliver high quality professional development,
from Initial Teacher Training to Executive Leadership via the Early Career Framework and the National Professional Qualifications. We are also host to the Charles Dickens Research School, which offers a bridge between evidence and practice. At the heart of the Hub is a commitment from our partners to learn from, with and on behalf of the richly diverse schools in our region, and to extend their impact beyond their own school boundaries for the good of all.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Marketing and Communications Assistant. They will be responsible for managing our websites and social media channels, for writing and sending out our regular newsletters and for promoting our programmes and our wider work. They will report to the TS Hub Manager and provide additional support where needed. They will play a key role in organising and promotion our annual conference, LondonEd.
Key responsibilities
- Website:
- Ensuring both the London South Teaching School Hub and the Charles Dickens Research School websites are up to date and contain accurate information
- In consultation with the Hub Manager, adding links to partner organisations
- Newsletters:
- Writing and sending out weekly TS Hub newsletter
- Adapting and sending out weekly ECF newsletter: one for ECTs and one for their Mentors
- Adapting and sending out half-termly research school newsletters
- Social Media:
- Drafting and scheduling tweets and other social media from the Hub and Research School accounts to promote programmes and disseminate information
- Recruiting to Hub and Research School Programmes:
- Writing copy for programmes for both
- Organising direct marketing of programmes to general and targeted groups
- Events
- Promotion of one-off event one-off events, such as LondonEd conference
Person specification
Essential
- Commitment to the LSTSH vision and mission, and to working openly and constructively with our partners.
- Excellent written and communication skills. You will need to be able to write and speak clearly, with a good command of English language and correct use of grammar. You will be able to use these to communicate in a friendly and professional manner.
- Fluency with web-editing and social media. You will need to be able to edit websites and communicate using social media platforms
- Being a hard-working self-starter. The small central team of LSTSH is busy and hard-working. Support will be available, but at times you will need to work with limited direction, using your own resourcefulness to get the job done.
- Excellent organisational skills. You will be working on a range of programmes and projects and need to be able to prioritise and organise your time effectively.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a school, university or professional development setting.
- Experience of writing promotional copy for different audiences, including for websites
- Experience of online marketing and use of channels and software including Twitter, LinkedIn, MailChimp.
- Some experience of managing budgets and working across a range of projects.
