Job type: fulltime

Job industry: Administration

Job description

SCM is a community of students, past and present, and it is community that is at the heart of who we are and how we do things. Wherever students find us and however they engage, they are our purpose; supporting them to be, and, where they are open to it, to grow in their lives and faith.

We are deeply committed to an inclusive, progressive and radical approach to the Christian faith and we are a movement for today, which means campaigning on current issues of concern such as the refugee crisis, the arms trade and food injustice, and modelling LGBTQ+ celebration and pushing the church to do the same.

As we look to our future we have big dreams of what SCM can be, and to achieve this we're looking for a Movement Administrator to support our work in bringing together students across Britain.

The main duties of the role include:

Responding to incoming enquiries from members and SCM communities via telephone, email and social media, and coordinating appropriate responses from the staff team.
Accurately recording activities on a database and ensuring contact information is kept up to date.
Undertaking administrative tasks such as sending out welcome packs, resources and other correspondence.
Supporting the Communications and Marketing Officer in sending regular communications to members and SCM communities.
Recording events bookings and sending information to delegates, as well as attending SCM events where possible to support the running of the event.
Ensuring that the website is kept up to date and proofreading content.
Administering termly mailings to SCM's members, communities and chaplaincies in collaboration with the staff team.
Carrying out annual surveys of members, communities, churches and chaplaincies, including collating the data and presenting this to the staff team for discussion.
Undertaking any other tasks as required commensurate with the post, such as taking minutes of meetings.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who is a confident communicator and can build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds. As the main point of contact for students and SCM community leaders, you will be able to respond to queries in a friendly and professional manner, communicating with students and other stakeholders and ensuring a high level of support is offered. You will need to show, in addition to the skills and experience listed in the person specification, that your values align with our values, and that you share our commitment to safeguarding. A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are as important to us as qualifications and experience, so do please get in touch even if you don't think you meet all of the criteria quite yet.

You would be joining a small but dynamic staff who are deeply committed to the values and work of SCM, and who are excited to welcome you the team and work with you in your role. We can also offer you a competitive salary, a generous annual leave entitlement, pension contributions, enhanced sickness and family leave pay, and flexible working.

We actively encourage people from structurally disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups to apply. This includes, but is not limited to, people from communities experiencing racial inequality, migrants, refugees, women, non-binary people, people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or people from an economically deprived background.
