Often the responses that are needed are not only urgent, but operationally critical so you will need to be able to think on your feet and react quickly.

In this role you will:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on network issues and provide technical support to the team and the wider business community.

  • Support Technicians and act as technical lead and mentor.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

The ideal candidate will have excellent working knowledge of IP communications, LAN and WANs to CCNA level with a good working knowledge of OSPF and its application, alongside knowledge of or the ability to learn the industry specific SCADA systems. The ability to prioritise and deal with reactive decision making will be a regular element of the post. You must have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills along with an ability to work on your own initiative.

The capability to manage IT/IS networks would be an advantage.

Please note: A full UK, driving license is a requirement for this role as you will be required to provide an out of hours support on a standby basis, for which you will receive an additional payment.

What's in it for you?

This role will be based at an operational site close to home. This role also attracts a car allowance.

Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota (typically 1 week in 4) will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment.

Our competitive salary & package includes an excellent contributory pension, 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service and a wider benefits scheme.

We're proud of the positive ways of working we have adopted during the pandemic. We want to create a more flexible and dynamic environment so all our colleagues can thrive. For our office-based roles we are moving to a hybrid approach where we will provide options around working from our offices, our operational sites and home dependent on role/team/individual. This will be discussed during the assessment process.

Thames Water is a unique, rewarding and diverse place to work. If you join our team, you'll enjoy fast-tracked career opportunities, flexible working arrangements and unparalleled benefits. We're also proud to be an equal opportunity employer, Stonewall Diversity Champion and Disability Confident Leader and we are a Times Top 50 Employer for Women.
