Job description

Experienced Night Import Clerks currently required to join a leading shipping organisation at their newly refurbished, multi-million pound site in Hythe, Kent.

Night shift - 4 on 4 off, 20:00 - 08:00

Reporting into the Import Manager, the Import Clerks will be responsible for ensuring the movement and customs clearance of import freight from the relevant port of arrival back to the facility for release or delivery to the final customer.

It is important that the Import Clerks have previous global freight/import experience, specifically within sea freight and have a strong knowledge of moving goods and customs procedures and documentation post-Brexit.

Other responsibilities will include:

Managing the movement of freight in to the country in accordance with organisational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local, country and international customs law and process
Managing the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all import activities
Maintaining and sharing with colleagues as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import law and procedures; tariffs and duties; licences and restrictions
Communicating with import authorities, customers and suppliers, in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities
Planning and implementing import strategies and activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the organisation
Liaising with the warehouse and distribution team to ensure the swift movement of freight through the facility

Salary on offer is dependent on experience.
