We do this by drawing on our professionalism, determination, innovation and the passion we have for making a difference in customers' lives.BOIUK Non-Financial Risk is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a Non-Financial Risk management framework, policies, standards and processes in line with Bank of Ireland Group across the UK business units to ensure operational risks are identified, measured, mitigated, reported and managed effectively and to an acceptable level. The team operates as a second line of defence within the three lines of defence model, setting common standards, tools and methodologies for management of Non-Financial Risk risks across the UK and providing quality advice and guidance to the business.Purpose of the RoleThe Operational Risk Manager supports the Senior Operational Risk Manager and the Head of Non-Financial Risk in enabling highly effective management of operational risk through the delivery of a fit for purpose Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and other associated activities to ensure robust processes and controls are in place.Key AccountabilitiesProvide advice and guidance to the first line of defence (FLoD) on all aspects of the ORMF, including risk assessments, issues, events, control testing, Key Indicators (KIs), Root Cause Analysis, through guidance documentation, providing training and training material (incl. Web Based Training), holding regular relationship meetings , etc.Support the FLoD with the ongoing enhancement of their uses of the ORMF by implementing continuous improvement of the framework and its effective and embedded use throughout the business.Provide oversight and challenge of the FLoD's use of all Operational Risk (OR) tools and processes to ensure they meet required standards.Carry out thematic deep-dive quality assurance to analyse and report on exceptions and problem performance.Provide reporting both to FLoD and to Risk committees on the use and embeddedness of the ORMF and any exceptions or problem performance.Coordinate inputs to and produce all regular OR reporting to Risk committees (including the Regulatory and Operational Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.Protect the data which the team handles according to BOIUK data protection and information security policies.Manage controls effectively including regular oversight of Key Indicators and Control Testing performance and retain evidence in the appropriate shared drives.Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards, as applicable.Lives and supports Group culture, values and behaviours.What is the opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative and professional team, working with a range of stakeholders across Group, UK Risk and the businessWorking at Bank of Ireland doesn't have to mean working in an office to have an impact. Exact frequency and location to be agreed with managerEssential Qualificationsn/aEssential Skills & ExperienceProven track record of managing operational risk tools and methodologies, or relevant similar experience, preferably in a Retail / Corporate banking environment.Strong stakeholder management skills - must be able to develop strong relationships and build credibility with colleagues to influence business decisions and ensure colleagues are engaged and actively managing their operational risks.Well-developed report writing and communication skills with the ability to interact at senior levels within the organisation.Confident, articulate and independent minded approach.
