Shaw Healthcare are looking for a Painter and Decorator with a positive and caring attitude to support our 8 services in the Mid/North of Powys with their decorating needs.
Position: Painter and Decorator
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Hourly Rate : £12

To provide an effective and reliable planned and reactive painting and decorating service to the organisation's portfolio of facilities and care homes across the county of Powys.
To work closely with the Building Surveyor, and provide a professional decorating service using own initiative to programme and deliver a high standard service and ensure it is carried out in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, company policies and any other relevant legislation covering safety within the workplace.
Principal duties
Carry out pre inspections with Care home Service Managers, Regional Operations team or Building Surveyors to determine the extent of the internal and external painting and decoration required
To determine the most cost effective preparation and application of decorative products.
Carry out a range of external and internal painting and redecoration tasks within occupied and unoccupied communal areas of the homes, ensuring a durable and quality finish.
Prepare and clean surfaces using hand and power tools using the appropriate methods.
Mix and thin paint to obtain the desired colour and texture as necessary.
Apply paint and other materials, such as, stains, lacquers, enamel, oil based paints, varnish, metal coatings or fire retardant paints using brushes, rollers or spray equipment whilst following manufacturers guidelines.
To self-manage and audit all works carried out in agreement with the Building Surveyor.
To carry out all necessary administrative work, such as, keeping accurate and timely records of all work undertaken
To ensure that all timesheets all completed and handed to the Building Surveyor or finance team prior to the final week of the month.
To ensure all claimable expenses are noted and recorded and passed to the Building Surveyor or finance team prior to the final week of the month.
Liaise and work closely with all Service Managers whilst providing technical advice where required.
Essential Criteria
City & Guilds part III or NVQ level 2/3 in Painting and Decorating or equivalent
Experience of using hand and power tools.
Holds a full and valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
Have an excellent awareness of current Health and Safety regulations.
Ability to work at heights safely and effectively.
Be able to work efficiently, effectively, diligently and courteously without constant supervision.
Have the ability to plan and organise painting and decorating works/projects.
To have received a full dose of an approved Covid 19 vaccination
Desirable Criteria
Be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Be able to use documentation and IT systems for reporting and maintaining records.
Have good verbal and written skills.
Be able to work individually and as part of a team.
Have experience in working within occupied and unoccupied areas.
