Offering the equivalent of between - £29,024 - £32,879, as an hourly rate;

Job Description

The key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to;

Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed and implemented to meet pay and pension schedule requirements within structured time frames.
In conjunction with the HR team, ensure that managers and staff receive appropriate advice and support on the resolution of pay and pensions queries, providing the first point of contact for queries from team members and wider department.
Respond to enquiries from employees and external stakeholders, such as pensions administrators, regarding pay and benefits issues. This may include the research and checking of historical pay data.
Support the Payroll Manager to ensure the organisation has effective relationships with external suppliers and organisations involved in the pay, pensions and benefit process e.g. Civil Service Pension Scheme, external payroll provider, and suppliers of staff benefits.
Work with operational HR colleagues to ensure that the HR database is effectively managed and used by team members and its use is maximised to improve efficiency in relation to the payroll and pension process.
Maintain accurate and up to date electronic and manual records which are compliant with legislation and the organisations retention and records management policies.
Take responsibility for pay, pensions and reward processes ensuring the department is compliant with internal policies and procedures; legal requirements; Treasury Guidance; and HMRC rules.
Maintain effective relationships between the organisation and specified external contractors for pay, pension and benefit services.
Support the team manager by contributing to the production of reports on key performance indicators and using the information to continually improve standards and effectiveness.
Deputise for the manager when required.
The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate must possess the following to be considered;

Immediate availability;

CIPD or CIPP qualification (preferred) or willingness to work towards;

About 3 years experience in a payroll function;

Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and/or payroll practice;

Excellent verbal communication skills;

Ability to work under pressure and flexibly in order to meet a varied, wide ranging and demanding workload which is often time-critical.
