Job description
We are offering regular full time work in our Performance Bars team for our busy Autumn-Winter season. If you have experience in bar service, or another fast-paced customer service role, then we'd love to hear from you.
Role Overview:
Working on the Barbican performance bars and Conservatory pop-up bar, delivering efficient and excellent customer service with an open, welcoming and friendly manner.
Present and serve a large range of products and build & pour cocktails, quickly and efficiently, meeting the Barbican's high standards
Effectively operate the EPOS system and follow existing card payments sales procedures
Ensure the bar and floor areas are clean, tidy and presentable at all times
Setup, operate and close the performance bars, including back bar duties as required.
Proactively keep up to date with current promotions, new products on offer at the Barbican bars. Make customers aware of offers on our product range
Assist with moving of stock from one location to another
Assist with the removal of waste and recyclable materials from the bars
Be involved and contribute at team meetings.
Assist with ensuring that health, safety and hygiene, along with licensing regulations, are met at all times.
Take responsibility for keeping up to date with information about the Barbican and its arts programming.
This is a freelance position for Barbican bars held under an agreement to provide services.
Shifts are allocated between the hours of 11am to midnight.
For this season's Theatre shows common shift patterns are 12.30-21.30 / 15.30-22.30 / 17.30-23.00.
Shifts will be allocated on a monthly basis, with the rota being released at least one week in advance. Shifts are not guaranteed and will vary depending on the Barbican's programming. Shifts are offered under the agreement of the provision of services. You are entitled to pick up extra shifts as and when they become available - this includes shifts available in other front of house teams at Barbican.
Rate of pay
£12.16 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. Bank holidays are paid at 2x the basic rate. Breaks are unpaid.
Payment is on a weekly basis 2 weeks in arrears and will be made by direct debit to your bank account.
Opportunities to experience other customer-facing roles in Gallery and Hosting are available, along with progression into team leading roles for which the rate of pay is £13.18 per hour.
