Job description

We are seeking a proactive and dependable Policy Officer to join the Institute of Physics (IOP) in the Policy Team on a fixed term basis for 1 Year. We are working on some very exciting projects to help transform physics in the UK: increasing diversity in education and the workplace, ensuring children have access to world-class physics education, and fostering investment in technical skills and STEM.

The role

This is an exciting role that will play an integral part in the policy work of the institute. The post holder will support the development and dissemination of IOP policy, undertaking research, writing briefings and consultation responses, and assisting senior colleagues in high profile IOP projects and reports.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Policy analysis, development and dissemination
  • Networking and stakeholder engagement
  • Team coordination and planning

Key skills and experience required are:

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritise workload, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Experience of writing for different audiences.
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining networks of policy contacts and external stakeholders.
