Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Systems Specialist. This critical role will lead the review and development of our purchasing systems across the Trust and as such be responsible for; leading a purchasing systems review and developing continual improvement programmes to ensure our purchasing systems are fit for purpose and supporting our teams to maximise the value of our charitable funds through procurement process efficiencies. So, if you have deep experience in procurement and procurement systems, including Purchase-to-Pay and eProcurement, are passionate about driving systems development in a collaborative way and have experience of managing organisational change, we'd love to hear from you.

What it's like to work here

Your contractual location will one of our regional hubs, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will also involve travel to properties or regional hubs to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work.

The National Trust's Procurement function sits within our Finance directorate, at the heart of the organisation. The team is all about driving excellence in Procurement across the National Trust, improving our organisational capability to deliver maximum impact from our charitable funds in service of our exciting strategy.

You won't work for an organisation with a more varied range of procurement requirements, spanning many different market sectors, including, construction, nature conservation, food & beverage and heritage conservation.

Annually our teams spend in excess of £300m on goods and services to delivery our strategy - working with us you'll be protecting unforgettable places for future generations.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you'll be responsible for managing the review and continual improvement of our P2P system (procurement elements), our supplier management systems and will lead on the continual improvement and implementation of our eSourcing system (Proactis), to support delivery of the our strategy.

You'll be responsible for the design and delivery of our purchasing systems development programme and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners will develop a robust approach to the review and continual improvement of our purchasing systems and processes. You will also work closely with our Developing Procurement Capability Specialist to develop appropriate training resources to support our teams in understanding how to use our purchasing systems correctly and efficiently.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of a leadership role in procurement and the ability to apply this to the review and continuous development of purchasing systems and processes.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) qualified or equivalent level of experience.
  • Proven experience in the review and continual development of purchasing systems in large complex organisations and the application of innovative solutions to effectively deliver the right solutions to our staff.
  • Experience of delivering purchasing systems training workshops at all levels within an organisation.
  • Excellent people and influencing skills enabling strong working relationships to be built.
