Energy Saving Trust is a leading and trusted organisation, dedicated to promoting energy efficiency, low carbon transport and sustainable energy use. We aim to address the climate emergency and deliver the wider benefits of clean energy as we transition to net zero.
The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Programme Manager to join the Advice team. We are looking for an individual who has significant experience in programme management, sustainable energy and working with business specifically small and medium sized enterprises in Scotland.
This role will lead the establishment and the development of a new programme Business Energy Scotland which will continue the excellent work done by the current programme (Energy efficient Business Scotland).
What you'll do
You will lead the newly created Business Energy Scotland team reporting to the Head of Home energy Scotland (the advice service for domestic customers already operated by Energy Saving Trust on behalf of Scottish Government). Business Energy Scotland will actively engage with SMEs across Scotland helping them to identify opportunities for savings and advising them on the most effective and cost-efficient pathways to achieve lower carbon emissions and running costs. It will connect applicants with advisors and consultants who can provide high quality advice and detailed technical insight and guidance on how to finance the improvements recommended. You will lead the setup of this programme during January to March 2022 and the delivery of the programme from the 1st of April. This will involve recruitment of staff and procurement of consultants, establishment of processes and procedures and working closely with other teams across EST to ensure the required infrastructure is in place for 1st April 2022. Once mobilisation is complete you will ensure you manage and deliver the programme effectively to meet targets and ensure SMEs in Scotland can fully contribute to Scotland's lower carbon future.
What you'll bring
You will be a confident manager of people who can work effectively with distributed teams and contractors. You will have the creative flair to problem solve and proactively identify opportunities to advance the programme's reach and the determination to continually drive the programme and team forward as it will play a significant role in helping to deliver Scottish Government net zero targets up to 2050.
You will also be an outstanding communicator who is able to build effective relationships through influencing and negotiating skills and comfortable interacting at all levels. You will need excellent data analysis and report writing skills underpinned by fluency with Excel, Word, and other IT programmes. You will also be able to interpret consultancy reports and analyse data from the programme's dedicated CRM to produce compelling, data-driven, management information and reports for senior management and the Scottish Government.
We are open to flexible working patterns and blended (home and office-based) working is possible for this role. Some travel to the Edinburgh office and occasional travel around Scotland is likely to be required.
