Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Autonomous Systems business based in Bedford. Working with the Project Team to ensure adequate Quality Function expertise is available at the appropriate project delivery point (e.g., supply chain management, manufacturing, handover).

Reponsibilities will include:

  • Managing project quality including overseeing or generating quality documentation, quality plans, inspection and test plans, etc for a specific project or multiple projects
  • Collation and review of life time quality records through manufacture and release to customer
  • Contribute to procurement management activities, by evaluating and auditing suppliers to both ISO 9001 and QN-100 nuclear industry requirements
  • Plan and ensure closure of project improvement activities such as corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Liaise with both client and suppliers to achieve quality-related deliverables. Review and approve supplier quality plans and ITP's
  • Witness FAT, SAT tests, in line with project requirements


Skills / Qualifications

Essential
  • Trained and experienced auditor for internal and supplier audits
  • Experience in the application of relevant quality / environmental / occupational safety management system standards (ISO 9001/ISO 14001/ISO 45001)
  • Experience of continuous improvement tools and techniques
  • Able to interact and influence at all levels in the organisation and in Clients/Third party organisations
  • Effective oral/written presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritise task execution in the context of tight programme constraints
  • Ability to analyse situations objectively

Desirable
  • Understanding of QC inspection techniques
  • Degree-level qualified / HND
  • Membership of an appropriate Engineering or Technical Professional Institute e.g. CQI
  • Experience of design assurance
  • Previous experience of a highly regulated industry would also be advantageous (Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence etc)
  • Knowledge of the requirements of NSQ-100 (management systems for nuclear installations) and RCC-M (fabrication)
