Job description

Tax

We help our clients stay ahead of changes that impact their businesses, navigating complexity and risk. We deliver deep tax technical, people and legal expertise, while providing the critical context to make informed and compliant decisions. With clients ranging from multinational organisations and public sector bodies to entrepreneurs and family businesses, the work we do is diverse.

Hear from Ed Stacey, Tax People Leader about what a career in Tax could mean for you - from development, to our culture, to what we value in our people when building our team.

The FS Reward and Employment team sits with People & Organisation helping Financial Services organisations with all aspects of pay and benefits. The team works with many FTSE 100 and other major international and domestic corporates advising on the design of short and long-term incentive programmes, setting pay levels, benefits and targets, in the context of relevant remuneration regulation impacting many FS sectors. We work closely with clients bringing insight, market practice and challenge. The nature of the market means that there is significant demand for people at all levels but particularly those in who can project manage, supervise junior staff and engage with clients.

Our team is a fully integrated team and spans all aspects of reward - from executive pay, performance, to wider workforce and links to the broader P&O team for culture, communications, and tax / legal dimensions. The role and activities are highly varied and we have a strong sense of purpose - with areas like D&I, fairness and business strategy in our DNA.

The role as Manager will be working on annuity client engagements and bespoke projects across a wide range of areas. They will have supervisory responsibilities and have close client contact. The Manager is responsible for financials, keeping people updated and will need to be organised, proactive and bring energy and enthusiasm. They should be interested in areas like bonus and long term incentive design, performance management, D&I reporting and performance management.

Projects will be varied - from supporting on transactional activity such as IPO's, running a benchmarking review, designing a new sales or long term incentive plan or reporting on various pay gaps. Typical client teams have 3-5 individuals, and in many cases the Manager is reporting directly to the lead Partner or Director. Most of our work is for Remuneration Committees, main boards and other senior stakeholders, and the Manager will have exposure to senior individuals. An eye for detail and quality is crucial.

Team members will also be involved in thought leadership and events - presenting to clients.

There is substantial growth in the team and this individual will have significant opportunities to progress.

Key responsibilities are:
  • Setting up a team and organising a project from end to end
  • Guiding juniors on tasks such as benchmarking and incentive design
  • Writing/reviewing client reports
  • Monitoring financial performance of the project
  • Attending meetings and running workshops
  • Working with data analytics teams to bring insights
  • Some element of creativity in bringing ideas to clients

They will need the ability to work with both numbers (financial analysis) and words (preparing slide packs). An interest in business strategy and macroHR trends is important. They will need to have commercial skills to spot broader opportunities.

Ability to connect and relate to clients and the broader team is critical.

FS sector experience is preferred, but not essential.
