Job description

In Deals we solve the important problems that stand in the way of value being created, sustained, realised or protected for our clients - working together to aid responsible recovery and growth.

We put together major mergers and acquisitions and resolve business crises - from international take-over bids to financial crime investigations and cases of insolvency. Our teams work on iconic deals with national and global clients as well as operating and investing in businesses, new ventures and entrepreneurs in our local market and communities. It's both a responsibility and a privilege to guide our clients through moments that matter deeply to them. Our breadth of clients in an ever-changing market means we need to be agile - responding when we need to, in a way that really makes a difference.

We draw upon our deals experience across many industries to support and partner with our clients, to positively impact society and the communities in which we operate. The insight we create, coupled with the innovative tools and methodologies we use to access and evaluate the data that matters, contributes to the success of our clients in all Deals situations. We encourage our clients to think more broadly - connecting their actions today with their successes tomorrow. We help our clients throughout the Deals lifecycle to create lasting value for their businesses.

Each of our key areas within Deals, delivers services to the market individually or together by combining our specialists to provide comprehensive client solutions.

About the team

With over 600 staff in 24 offices, we are UK's largest business restructuring services (BRS) practice. We provide support to lenders, creditors, companies and individuals in troubled financial situations, helping them find sustainable solutions that deliver for all involved. We work with colleagues to bring the best of PwC together at pace, drawing on specialist expertise to arrive at the right decisions.

Whether you are an owner, investor or occupier, real estate forms a crucial part of any organisation's strategy and is often a key consideration during times of change or distress. And as the ways we interact and use physical space change due to rapidly changing behaviours, technology and environmental considerations, this is becoming more important.

With a team that encompasses chartered surveyors, turnaround and restructuring experts and insolvency practitioners, we have significant experience in a range of real estate restructuring situations.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a real estate specialist at Senior Associate level to join our BRS team to provide additional bandwidth and to facilitate growth. While the position is within the wider BRS team, the focus is on stressed and distressed real estate.

The role would provide you with an opportunity to work on a range of advisory and formal insolvency engagements and with a number of other teams within our co-located real estate practice to coordinate best advice to clients (e.g. valuations, corporate finance, transaction services, tax and legal).

Structural change within the real estate industry offers the potential for broad exposure to different stakeholders, insolvency situations and potential solutions. The role provides you with an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of real estate finance and insolvency options.

Whilst the role would be based in London, [ there would be some scope for the individual to split their time from here and working remotely at other regional PwC offices or from home ].

This is an exciting time to join our BRS team, providing the opportunity to grow and develop your network and experience.

Responsibilities

You will be active across all areas of our work and with exposure to clients and their advisors and working alongside the firm's insolvency practitioners.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Providing real estate advice in connection with advisory work and formal insolvency assignments;

  • Assisting with the preparation of presentations and reports;

  • Driving the implementation of agreed strategies;

  • Working alongside other PwC teams and specialists (such as rating, tax, legal, H&S, ESG etc);

  • Input into engagement acceptance and risk management procedures, including management of budgets and resources; and

  • Supporting and working alongside other team members in the development of new business in the sector, including preparation of proposals and pitches, attendance at presentations and identifying opportunities for sell-on of existing work.

Essential Skills and Experience

The following skills are required for this role:

  • RICS qualified (or other similar real estate qualification) with at least two years' post qualification experience

  • Good knowledge of commercial real estate markets and ideally with some experience across agency and valuation

  • Willingness to learn and take on a high degree of responsibility

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating at all levels

  • Ability to work effectively in teams and, on occasion, to tight deadlines

  • Proven ability to deliver high quality written work

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to think commercially

  • Good MS Excel

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good project and time management skills

  • Professional verbal and written English

You will be joining an experienced and diverse team that will welcome your outlook and knowledge while also helping you to broaden and deepen your understanding of real estate advisory.

You will have the opportunity to take increasing amounts of responsibility as your experience develops whilst being provided with the necessary support.
