Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Applied Intelligence (AI) is currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support one of our UK projects.

Whilst this role can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected. This position can be either staff or contract.

In this role you will be responsible for producing adequate drawings, specifications, data sheets, calculations and other pertinent engineering and design documentation to enable the procurement of electrical equipment packages and their subsequent installation, commissioning and safe operation.

Responsibilities / Duties

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently and have demonstrable experience in Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering, including brownfield projects. They will be confident in their own ability to deliver the Electrical scope on a project on time and within budget, while facilitating effective work share with other execution centres around the world.

  • Prepare RFQ packages for the Electrical packages to the required Client, Wood and Project procedures and standards
  • Review Vendors quotations, prepare technical bid evaluations and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries
  • Hold co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required
  • Produce designs for Electrical systems and equipment
  • Generation of project deliverable documents, including production, checking and approval as required to meet stated project requirements
  • Maintain effective interfaces between the Electrical project team and other discipline teams, Client representatives and other third parties as required
  • Maintain co-ordination of design information with Electrical Designers for ongoing design issues
  • Represent the Electrical discipline internally and externally as required
  • Follow discipline and project working procedures
  • To provide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in the response and actions for:
    • Site visits and site surveys
    • Site queries, discussions and optioneering
    • Supplier, vendor, contractor, client, and site related discussions
    • Site based activities


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  • Oil and gas sector engineering experience (or Chemical Industry as appropriate)
  • Familiarity with quality management systems in engineering design
  • Preferably a Member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology
  • Experienced with Detail Design - Brownfield/Modifications projects
  • Co-operative attitude and effective communicator.
  • Ability to develop subcontract and Purchase order requisitions where applicable experience in a similar role within the contractor environment is essential
  • LV & HV Switchgear, UPS systems experience
