Job Description
Responsible for strategic planning and tactical execution of a wide portfolio and group of innovation programs, leading a team of project and program management professionals as well as support staff. Working closely with senior cross-functional leaders across the entire business to define and deliver critical initiatives to support Mitie's strategic objectives, product portfolios, and roadmaps. Ensuring that senior leaders are held to account to deliver the outcomes committed and that any likelihood of deviance is called out pro-actively and mitigated.
Leadership
o Leading multi-million pound portfoilos and major changes, to help shape and clarify initiatives across the Mitie group
Delivery
o Take responsibility for the design and delivery of large complex programmes leading multi-disciplined teams, ensuring outcomes are achieved as committed.
Stakeholder Management
o Reporting into the Head of Programmes and senior stakeholder management up to the Mitie exec level
Risk Management
o Proactive Risk Management at a Portfoilo level to call out and control risks against the successful delivery of the portfolios. Also act as key point of ownership for all projects and resources within the portfolio.
Vendor Management
o Working with 3rd parties at an decision maker level, to deliver the projects within the allocated Portfoilo, building relationships to achieve the desired outcomes
· Overall commitment and delivery of programmes & projects across the Mitie change agenda (IS and wider Business)
· Ensures alignment of product value proposition, program scope, and strategic business objectives across the entire portfolio.
· Demonstrates best in class program management practices and drive those practices within all active programs, providing mentoring as identified
· Hire, manage and coach direct reports to drive performance and establish a rich talent pipeline for the organisation.
· Collaborate with technology leaders and business stakeholders to understand their strategic portfolio and business goals and translate those into actionable plans.
· Reporting on portfoilo status accounting for project cost, time, benefits and budget
· Reviewing & approving Business Cases to ensure they meet the Mitie standard & quality
· Lead and facilitate monthly phase gate and portfolio reviews with senior business leadership
· Ensure that Benefits associated with approved Business Cases, across the Portfoio are landed
Qualifications
· Recognised impact and influencing skills, effective in negotiation and strategic in approach
· Demonstrable ability to lead and manage multi-disciplined teams, business, technology, change.
· Comfortable confirming scope of complex, critical programmes, scoping deliveries and attaining sign off for change
· Significant experience of delivery methodologies across the portfolio management practice
· Experience of delivering multiple programmes with multi-site, complex, enterprise environments
· Outstanding stakeholder management skills including board level
· Ability to understand, support and articulate complex change processes and governance
· Experience of managing significant budgets and business cases
· P&L management experience
· Outstanding leadership skills
· Excellent at issue and risk management
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
· Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and associated Programme/Project Management software
· Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a desirable, but not essential
· BSc/BA in computer science, or relevant field; MBA/MA will be a benefit, but not essential
