Allstaff Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer based in Letchworth for a well-established engineering company.

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum
Location: Letchworth
Type of Contract: Permanent, Full time
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday.

The role...

As the Senior Software Engineer your role will involve the following important duties:

Leading and mentoring system/software engineering team members.
Reviewing and checking development milestone output.
Leading the development and integration as a class owner or domain expert: rich and intuitive interfaces, software drivers, functional software, robot control, vision systems, artificial intelligence systems, industry 4.0 systems.
Leading the development of engineering specifications from customer requirements.
Software/system problem-solving in both legacy and new special purpose machines.
Contribute to CE/UK CA risk assessments and other design standards compliance.
Draft operating, instruction and maintenance manuals.
Contribute to the technical construction file.
Reviewing software/system designs.
Communicate software/system technical risks to discipline and project managers.
Deploy departmental processes where the use of waterfall and agile development is used.
Reporting progress of all projects to Engineering Management and Project Management teams.
Developing prototypes and proof of concept with our strategic partners and new technology.
The experience required...

As a successful Senior Software Engineer you will have the following:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field to Automation/Special purpose machines and/or Software/System design.
Demonstratable experience working in the Software or Systems Engineering field.
Experience in writing code in C#, Visual Basic 6 and/or .NET.
Experience with GIT, BitBucket software version control.
Ability to use Microsoft Visual Studio (2017 onwards preferred).
Understanding of Vision, Robot, production line testing, Programmable Logic Controllers and other automation technology is desirable.
Agile Development experience.
Experience using Jira/Trello or an equivalent system.
Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
Ability to review documentation at all stages of system development.
Ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical people visually and verbally.
Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Experience of leading teams, projects or development is desirable. Full support will be given.
