We are recruiting for Support Workers for our hostel accommodation services working across Lambeth including Brixton, Vauxhall and Waterloo.
Successful candidates will need to be highly motivated, committed well organised and have existing knowledge and experience of working with homeless people. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative and have strong communication skills enabling you to engage with residents who have complex needs.
You will assist our senior staff to manage the hostel, support residents to move on to independent and longer-term accommodation, access and engage with services and liaise with professionals and community services.
Your excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills will enable you to create options for people where these may be hard to find.
You will work within a team, be confident in creating and working through action plans, have strong time management skills and to be strongly outcome focused.
Your work will be based in a hostel, where you will be expected to be flexible as you will be needed to cover a variety of shifts during the week and the weekend.
As Support Worker you will have:
- The ability to provide a flexible and responsive service to meet the needs of hostel residents.
- Excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills enabling you to create options for people where these may be hard to find.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to working with service users.
- The confidence, enthusiasm and ability to manage a case load of complex service users.
- The ability to work within a team and to ensure health and safety requirements are followed.
- Excellent I.T. skills
- A desire to develop your knowledge and skills.
