About the team

Our Valuations business is a thriving, growing and innovative team of individuals who work collaboratively with our clients to value their businesses, shares, financial instruments and intangible and tangible assets. Our valuation insights are used to help our clients make commercial decisions, resolve disputes and meet their regulatory requirements.

Our team is large, and industry focused. We have around 150 people in the UK and we work along industry lines, as we believe that having a proper understanding of the issues and opportunities facing each sector is critical to producing commercial and robust valuations.

Within this Valuations business, the Market Value Direct ("MVD") team provides financial instrument valuation services, both internally within PwC as well as dealing directly with clients. The MVD team values instruments from liquid traded shares and bonds through to complicated derivatives and illiquid debt.

We are looking to recruit Manager level individuals into our London or Birmingham office, with individuals expected to at times work with other offices in the UK. This provides the opportunity for a successful candidate to work in a fast paced business alongside a team which has grown significantly over the past 12 months and is forecast to continue to grow, both in size and new areas of work.

About the role

Supported and coached by Senior Managers within the team, you will work closely with the wider team focusing on delivering projects to clients, either internal to the firm or externally. The role will also involve helping with various business development activities such as pitching to new clients and developing our strategy and proposition.

The role offers you the opportunity to learn a broad range of financial risk and valuation skills and further develop your own attributes.

In delivering the role, you would have a high degree of autonomy, using your organisational ability and initiative in completion of tasks.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Managing projects which support teams in our Audit practice in relation to testing clients financial instrument valuations, encompassing clients across our global network and including a wide range of instrument types

  • Managing and liaising with an offshore team in Poland

  • Assisting the leadership team in areas of business development, practice development and strategy - due to the high growth nature of MVD this will be a key component of the role

  • Managing the delivery of our 'channel 2' valuations and advisory services. These services are led by our clients key commercial decisions and can arise in the contexts of commercial deals to regulatory requirements

Essential skills and experience

  • Be numerate with an analytical mind set with high attention to detail

  • Have an interest or background in derivatives / financial instruments

  • Project management organisational skills and able to prioritise the workload of the team.

  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative

  • Ability to manage and liaise with other team members based in other geographical locations

  • Clear communication skills which bridge complexity into clear advice

Desirable skills

  • ACA or CFA qualified (although not essential)

  • Financial modelling experience

  • Willingness to learn using other data and analysis tools (such as Python, Alteryx, Tableau or Power BI)
