The Role of a Paint Technician

In this role, you will join our Bodyshop team, reporting to the Bodyshop Production Manager as well as having the full support of the Production Team Leader. Your role will see you being responsible for the refinishing of all assigned vehicles. Following the written repair order and following the operational processes. The Paint Technician plays a key role in delivering quality of finish, speed, efficiency and ensuring the customers expected standard is delivered.

Main purpose of the job

Performing all refinish procedures ensuring all formulations, preparation, top coating and curing to meet with recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing and material usage
Prioritising work efficiently to meet deadlines ensuring awareness of urgent vehicles and due out dates
Preparing spray out cards to ensure perfect colour match
Ensuring areas to be treated are properly masked out
Primer application to areas that need to be treated
Identifying rectification issues and report them to Line Manager
Quality control checks carried out on completion to ensure no defects on work
Using the electronic management system for accurate recording of work assigned
Regular maintenance of booths and filters to ensure safe running of ovens

Key Skills, Experience, Industry-specific Requirements, Qualifications and Desired Behaviours:

In order to be successful, you will need to have at least 3 years' experience in this type of vehicle repair process and/or a relevant qualification i.e. ATA, NVQ, BTEC, City & Guilds.

You must:

Have proven experience of delivering high quality vehicle paint finishes
Have thorough knowledge of water based spraying skills
Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continued learning by participating in on-going training and any other industry related training requirements
Be able to meet targets and deadlines
Have the ability to work effectively under pressure
Be able to work as part of a team
Comply with Health and Safety requirements and legislation
Maintain a positive working relationship with all members of staff
Self-motivated
