Job description

Our SEND school in East Ham require 1;1 support workers to assist students with severe behaviour and mental health difficulties.
This role is full-time; Mon-Fri; 8.30-3.30/4pm
The pay is £90 - £100 a day.

This role is to start immediately until at least July 2022 following enhanced DBS and file checks.

The students within the school are no longer able to attend mainstream school or a PRU due to the severity of their behaviour.
The school will match you with the correct student either within Primary or Secondary phase dependant on experience, knowledge and skillset.

This role requires extreme resilience, care and commitment due to the challenges.

We will only be putting forward committed support workers, staff that can and will make a difference to a child's school life regardless of the challenges they may face within the role.

A number of students are prone to violence, swearing etc to which the school will provide extra training to deescalate situations that may arise.

Everyday is different within this role!

You will be required to:

1. To assist with general welfare and development of pupils.

2. Assisting the teacher in the classroom e.g. offering support in classroom activities with pupils.

3. Assistance with independent training and social skills development of pupils.

4. Collecting information and assisting in record keeping.

5. To support pupils in mainstream lessons, under the guidance and training of appropriate teaching staff.

6. Attendance at meetings to set and monitor targets for pupils. These meetings may be with external agencies, such as Social Services.

7. Care of, and assistance in the preparation of teaching materials.

8. For limited necessary periods in absence of teacher, supervising groups of children unaided.

9. Carrying out duties, including playground supervision, during school break periods and between a.m. and p.m. sessions.

10. Where appropriate supervision of pupils at the mid-day meal and during the break between morning and afternoon sessions.

11. Any other duties allocated by the Head Teacher.
