Your new company

Our client is at the initial milestones of an new business venture focused on applying gene silencing technologies to the development of novel human cell therapies. They are currently at an incipient phase but are looking to utilise their technology platform to take advantage of commercial opportunities and look to becoming a key player in fighting diseases using cell based therapies. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of wet-lab biologists and computational scientists working to develop novel cell engineering approaches. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge techniques to help have a real impact on patients' lives.

Your new role

* Develop bioinformatic tools and pipelines from scratch utilising NGS data.
* Manage pre-existing bioinformatics pipelines making them suited towards human genome applications.
* Maintain and develop the computational and storage environment, made up of databases and servers.
* Support the company's central NGS repository.
* Develop and build from scratch the cloud-based bioinformatics platform.
* Develop a sharing mechanism for big data.
* Communicate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Additional duties consistent with the nature and grade of the post may be required.

What you'll need to succeed

* BSc\/MSc\/PhD with experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or a relevant discipline.
* Track record of working with mammalian genomics and genome-scale data analysis.
* Proficient with bioinformatics tools and pipelines, especially NGS data processing.
* Familiarity with cloud services (AWS) and databases (SQL) for genomics data processing.
* Skilled in programming languages such as python or R.
* Experience using machine learning methods and statistical models.
* Strong communication skills with the proven ability to relay information effectively and
* efficiently, both to computational and experimental scientists.
* Experienced working collaboratively with teams on project work.
* Ability to document work appropriately to ensure work is repeatable and understood across teams.
