Position: Technical Manager - Lift Consultancy

Location: Home based, anywhere in UK.

Role Purpose:

Working within group and supporting the Service Lead - Engineering Technical Services in delivering Approved Body Services and subject matter expertise consultancy within the Lift discipline. Operating within agreed authority and according to the company's technical philosophy and strategies, provide technical management to the business and be the source of knowledge for both the business and its clients

Authority & Decision making:

* Technical sign off for Approved Persons for Lift Regulations.

* Refer any issues outside of their authority to the Head of Engineering

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide Technical Management to the Approved Body for Lift Regulations service provided by the business.

* Provide services to fee paying and internal customers for Lift UKCA and CE services and maintain technical and administrative control of contracts to ensure optimum efficiency and profitability.

* Proactively work in line with the company's Core Values and Code of Ethics and effective implementation of the Approved Body and Engineering Technical Services vision.

* Delivery against key personal, team and divisional KPI's.

* Proactively implement and maintain the technical standards, procedures, and service levels of the Approved Body - Lift Regulations for the business.

* Provide the highest level of technical expertise within the Lift Regulations and alignment to BS EN ISO 17065 ensuring that the company's technical philosophy and strategies are understood and adhered to throughout the business unit.

* Keep up to date with developments in Standards and Legislation affecting Approved body - Lift Services and supporting, implementing, and managing change as required.

* Ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of IS systems, Approved Body requirements and Qualification & Competence module.

* Provide engineering technical input into external trade associations, technical committees, and statutory bodies.

* Develop and provide innovative solutions, differentiating the business in the marketplace.

* Coach and develop team members and field staff in technical issues, ensuring technical knowledge is maintained and developed through training both on and off the job to grow the capability of the business

Experience & Skills Required:

* In depth knowledge and experience of Lift Conformity Assessment.

* In depth knowledge and experience of Lift Safety Components Conformity Assessment.

* Significant knowledge and experience with the UK Lift Regulations and European Lift Directive.

* Significant knowledge in the application of BS EN 81 Standards and ISO 12100.

* Knowledgeable in the requirements for Approved Bodies certifying products, processes and services in accordance with BS EN ISO 17065.

* Auditing experience.

* Excellent communication skills, including ability to write detailed technical reports and procedures.

Qualifications Required:

* Minimum HNC / NVQ equivalent in a relevant engineering field, such as Lift Engineering.

Desirable

* Incorporated Engineer

* MSc Lift & Escalator Engineering

* Member of a Professional Institute, such Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

* ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
