Job description

My client are a small, privately owned precision engineering firm based in Hertfordshire.
With a long standing history of providing high quality tools for moulds and forming's for a variety of industries, they are a specialist in the use of CADCAM designs to produce complex engineered parts.

Working as part of a small team, you will machine and assemble intricate and highly engineered parts for the clients distinguished list of customers, working closely with the Managing Director ensure product quality and standard are foremost in your mind. Most jobs are one offs, or usually small quantities, and as such this means they may take some time to complete, so you will be kept very busy managing several different machine jobs at once. There is a mixture of manually machined parts, alongside CNC machined parts which are usually produced on Solidworks and programmed offline using HAAS control software, so a background in toolmaking or CNC programming would be preferred.

Due to the highly skilled nature of this role, my client is pragmatic in their search criteria of the successful candidate and is prepared to offer training and development to somebody who is prepared to commit to the business and grow with them long term. As a settled business, this role has only come about due to a retirement, so finding the right person for the business is more important to my client rather than looking for the perfect skill set. Long term, the chance to assume a managerial role is on the table, giving the successful candidate an opportunity to grow more than just their product knowledge.

Ideally an apprentice trained toolmaker, or machinist, with a proven track record of being able to set and operate CNC machinery to produce complex engineered parts. You will also be able to display a full range of engineering skills including manual machining, turning and milling, fitting and assembly, and preferably some experience in offline programming using HAAS.
