Job Purpose
As a Finance technician at Canada Life you will be preparing regular management information (MI) reports (both financial & operational) including but not limited to reconciliations, data error reports, earnings analysis and key financial indicators. You will ensure that financial data is understood, controlled and fully reconciled back to source data and systems (e.g. Bank , General Ledger, Policy Administration, investment administration etc). You will also have opportunity to implement and administer agreed procedures and processes to ensure key performance indicators/service standards are met.
Key Accountabilities
- Preparation and development of existing management information (MI) reports (both financial and operational) including monthly financial controls MI.
- To ensure that data relating to the business is understood, controlled and fully reconciled back to source data and systems
- To support the business with data gathering for internal investigations and projects. To extract and present data in an understandable way for internal customers.
- To assist in the creation of new and amended regular reports and MI, when requested by the business.
- Continual review of internal processes to ensure sufficient control and efficiencies exist. To identify any weaknesses in processes and be able to suggest and assist in the implementation of any changes. This will involve working alongside colleagues in operational areas in order to ensure sufficient controls will be in place.
- Processing and monitoring of shared services invoices

• Can accurately record and input financial information for immediate line management.
• Demonstrates a methodical approach to analysing information and problem solving
• Ability to deliver work to a high standard under tight time pressure with attention to detail
• Has the ability to develop and maintain relationships, acting with integrity and role modelling the company values at all times.
• Can clearly communicate ideas and information
• Able to effectively plan, organise and execute their own work with supervision, making management aware of conflicting priorities and readjusting their workload accordingly.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, being able to identify issues and interdependencies.
• Can make some decisions independently in order to progress issues but able to exercise sound to assess when matters need to be escalated.
• An interested and inquisitive individual who is committed to their own ongoing professional and personal development
• GCSE Maths (or equivalent) Grade 6 or above
• May be studying AAT qualification
