Job Overview: Our client, an established metal packaging manufacturer, has retained our services to search for a Press & Fabrication Technical Manager to join their team.
Overview:
* As a Press & Fabrication Technical Manager the purpose of this role is to support the effective co-ordination, planning and improvement of the Press Shop, Fabrication and Secondary Operations to meet customer delivery schedules and quality expectations.
* Experience gained within management of a Metal Press Shop environment is key, including the ability to manage and motivate the relevant teams, driving the right behavior and disciplines, whilst also creating an atmosphere where staff feel engaged and able to contribute to continuously improving performance.
* The successful application with have previously worked within Manufacturing/Metal Press Shop fabrication environment and as a minimum held a Team Leader or Supervisory role.
Responsibilities;
* Excellent people management and leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide teams to achieve and exceed performance targets whilst ensuring quality standards are met.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and mentor team members.
* Understand design principles of light metal work and be able to read, verify and interpret production drawings, material specifications and technical standards
* Knowledge of the materials, machinery and equipment related to metal fabrication and pressing/manufacturing
* Experienced fitter ideally mechanically biased who is also skilled in welding, cutting and fabrication techniques (Tech qualifications, NVQ3 or evident would be advantageous)
* Experience in Power Press Setting & Safety (Mechanical and Hydraulic)
* Experienced in CNC machinery
* Understanding of Quality Systems
* Good written and verbal communication skills, including IT Literacy, a confident user of Microsoft Office 365 and associated programs.
* Knowledge of UK Health & Safety Law (regulations) and specific rules and regulations applicable to manufacturing/fabrication processes.
* Knowledge/experience in using ERP/MRP systems
* Good understanding of manufacturing/assembly processes
* Experience of stock control, maintaining stock accuracy and completing stock audits
* Experienced working to tight deadlines
* Self-motivated with a high level of urgency
* An understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and reporting KPI's
* To ensure that fair and firm discipline is maintained and that the company discipline and grievance procedure if adhered to
* All legitimate requests made by management.
Experience;
* 10+ years' experience within Manufacturing Metal Power Press Environment
* Experienced in Power Press Setting, Safety (Mechanical and Hydraulic Automatic and Manual Presses)
* Previous managerial experience
* Motivate staff and lead a team
* Good written and communication skills
* Good people skills and be able to work well with colleagues
* Health & Safety awareness
