Job Description
Our Senior Software Engineers are skilled practitioners and role model for software craft within DWP.

You'll help make sure we follow best practice and will guide our teams on how to deliver quality software products.

You'll work as part of multidisciplinary teams, in collaboration with architects and engineers, to design software products that make up services used by millions of people.

You will focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality, and be accountable for the code you and your teams produce.
Responsabilties

Your responsibilities will include but are not restricted to, the following:

• Design and lead the strategies for building reusable libraries and services.

• Lead Software Engineering teams providing technical leadership and guidance.

• Coaching and mentoring your team and their professional development.

• Contribute and set strategic direction for product team and the wider Software Engineering community.

The corporate hub location will be the designated place of work and any remote or home working arrangement does not constitute a change to your designated place of work or contractual Terms and Conditions. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £49,171 (Band min) to £59,589 (Band max).

Where the maximum salary of £59,589 is offered, a Digital Allowance of up to £2,614 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

There are a limited number of roles available in each of the locations listed. When selecting your preference please select digital hub locations that you are able to travel to regularly. Reserve list appointments will be made in merit order by location preference.
