The Role - Heavy Plant Fitter / Mechanical Engineer
As a Heavy Plant Fitter, you'll be joining our small but highly skilled and dedicated team of Engineers and Fitters at our busy and fast-paced site, undertaking daily preventative maintenance tasks and responding to breakdowns for a variety of mobile and fixed plant equipment ranging from shredders and shakers to material handlers and loading shovels.
Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:
* Carrying out inspection, service routines, repairs and testing of fixed and mobile plant machinery
* Investigating and diagnosing faults, reporting findings and carrying out repairs (including attending on-site breakdowns)
* Undertaking maintenance tasks and scheduling routine maintenance
* Working to a maintenance schedule, accurately recording tasks completed

* Salary of up to £43,000, level dependent on experience and negotiable for a highly experienced Heavy Plant Fitter
* Paid overtime regularly available, with attractive rates of pay (time and a half for callouts, and double time on Sundays)

You'll be based at the workshop within our 17-acre recycling village, located in Horwich (Bolton, Greater Manchester). You'll be working Monday to Friday 7am to 5.30pm, and every other Saturday 7.00am to 12.30pm (some flexibility available with start and finish times).
Our Requirements - Heavy Plant Fitter / Mechanical Engineer
* Proven experience as a Fitter / Mechanical Engineer working on mobile or fixed plant within waste, construction or a similar heavy plant industry
* Proficient in diagnosing, repairing and implementing preventative measures in relation to hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
* Excellent problem solving and organisational skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
* Superb interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels
* A positive attitude and flexibility towards tasks
Although not essential, experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter, along with a relevant formal qualification to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, would be advantageous.
