Job description

SRA Engineering are looking for a Design Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Lancaster on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Designer will ideally have the following attributes:

* HNC/ HND, Degree qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering / Automotive Engineering.

* A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer working within design/ manufacturing would be desirable.

* Display the ability to build and manage complex 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings with 3D CAD - SolidWorks/AutoCAD software.

* Experience of working with welded aluminium and sheet metal fabrications, ideally vehicles & within the transport industry.

* Manufacturing engineering & fabrication experience. (e.g. NDE, Rivet & Welding Processes)

* Able to work well individually as well as within a team.

* Ability to use Photo View, Photoshop & Microsoft Office.

* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

The Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Designer role will involve:

* Accountability for cradle to grave ownership of a product or design.

* The design of sheet metal and aluminium weldable structured vehicles.

* Using Solidworks CAD software for 3D and AutoCAD for 2D design work.

* Creation of BOM's, 2D & 3D for manufacture.

* Good understanding of Jig and Steelwork manufacture

* Liaise with suppliers and procurement department to analyse and reduce cost when ordering parts & materials.

* Being involved in different manufacturing processes.

* Managing the product development process.

* Working with the existing engineering team

* Developing as a part of a company long term

* Knowledge of quality and its processes of how it operates

* Knowledge of British Standards BS EN ISO 2253, BS EN ISO 15614

* To produce fully detailed drawings/specifications/completed designs for the manufacturing process.

* Updating drawings for manufacturing and providing sales department with drawings and technical information as required

* Ensure all drawings are to the relevant legislative requirements.

* Overseeing of and working closely with relevant production departments and providing support

* Design bespoke products as required

* Quality - follow quality procedures
