About us:
PTMWA is a women-led organisation whose vision is to ensure that people, suffering, or at risk of domestic abuse receive appropriate support. We assist recovery by providing safe accommodation, specialist support services and by working in partnership with other agencies. We also run the only museum dedicated to telling the story of women's fight for the right to vote at our Pankhurst Centre headquarters.
We are a diverse organisation with c31% of our staff identify as BAME, 12% as LGBT+. We span the generations with c11% of staff being aged 18-24 and c25% aged 55-64 and c11% identify as having a disability.

About Big Manchester: For the past nine years, The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women's Aid) has been part of a highly successful partnership with Barnardo's and 3 other voluntary sector agencies in the delivery of Big Manchester project in the north of the city. The Big Manchester partnership has an innovative approach to working with families with children aged 5-11 and where they are affected by domestic violence and abuse, substance misuse and poor mental health.
The project has been so successful it has been extended to cover the central Manchester area and we are recruiting an additional Family Intervention Worker.
About the role: PTMWA is the employing organisation, but the role will be managed on an operational level by Barnardo's project manager. The role will involve intensive holistic work with parents and their primary school aged children and where the family has been impacted by domestic violence and abuse. You will work with children in 1:1 setting and support them through a range of interventions including using creative therapeutic play techniques. Alongside this you will also work collaboratively with parents - assessing their needs and working with them to find solutions.
This role has been assessed and confirmed as open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1
Hours of work: 17.5
Salary: £25,215 pro rata
Duration: Till 31.08.2022 with possible extension till 2024
Annual Leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays, pro rata for part-time workers
