Job description

An IT Security Manager is required for our client based in Manchester for an initial 18 month fixed term contract. With a potential option to go permanent after the 18 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Security Manager to join the team to take responsibility for overseeing and controlling all aspects of IT security within the organisation.

The IT Security Manager performs two core functions, the first is overseeing the operations of the enterprise's security solutions and the second is establishing an enterprise security stance through policy, architecture and training processes.

Secondary tasks will include the selection of appropriate security solutions, and oversight of any vulnerability audits and assessments.

The IT Security Manager will interface with our client's security partner, peers within the IT Operational & Digital team as well as with the leaders of the business units to both share the security vision with those individuals and to solicit their involvement in achieving higher levels of IT security through information sharing and co-operation.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably with direct responsibility for IT security and continual improvement.
  • Local government or NHS experience would be beneficial, or a large enterprise environment, eg 3000 IT users
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Practices/Methodologies
  • Experience of IT and Information Security standards such as cyber essentials and ISO27001.
  • Privilege Access Management (PAM) Privilege Identity Management (PIM)
  • Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining security policies, processes, procedures and standards
  • Experience implementing Cyber governance and Security Strategies
  • Experience of undertaking security audit assessments
  • Being a certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of data loss prevention
  • Ability to understand the balance between business requirements, priorities, IT service delivery and information security
