Your new role
Purpose of the post:
To provide a high-quality service and support in all aspects of estates functions, general maintenance, and operational Health & Safety to maintain high standards throughout the campus creating an outstanding and welcoming teaching and learning environment.
Shift Pattern:
37 hours per week. Weekly rota in line with the following patterns:
05:45-13:45, 08:00-16:00 & 09:30-17:30

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Site Maintenance
- To undertake minor maintenance repairs and any requests made via the online cedar
ticket system
- Undertake minor maintenance and repairs; including (but not limited to); unblocking
sinks and drains, unblocking toilets, replacement of tap washers, replacing light
tubes, repairs to furniture, minor painting and decorating
- The effective operation of the heating system and boilers, including the Building
Management System (BMS), ensuring buildings are heated and cooled as necessary
- To carry out necessary ground's maintenance including but not limited to, power
washing, litter picking, leaf clearing, snow and ice clearance.
Security
- Undertake keyholding and the security of all buildings including but not limited to;
- Unlock all buildings daily ensuring areas have adequate lighting as necessary
- Lock and secure all buildings as necessary, ensuring windows and lights are off
- Be available for out of hours call out (on a flexible rota)
- Review CCTV as requested by Estates Management
- Ensure fire and intruder alarm systems are checked daily and any faults reported
- Report any intruders or any unauthorised persons on the college campus
- Report any damage or vandalism to buildings or belongings
- Liaise and communicate with the outsourced security team as necessary
Health and Safety
- Ensure contractors are signed in at the Site Staff Office in line with college procedures
and in accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015 (or as amended), ensuring they
have the relevant ID pass and documentation i.e. permit to work, risk assessments,
method statements (RAMS) prior to works commencing
- Undertake safety inspections\/testing including, but not limited to, the minibus,
emergency lighting, Legionella, fire alarm, fire extinguishers, fire doors and exits.
- To ensure the proper and safe storage of all equipment, tools, materials and chemicals
- Ensure all Health and Safety Procedures and duties are adhered to as outlined in the
College's Health and Safety Policy
- To contribute operationally to the College's Disaster Recovery Plan
- Assume the responsibilities of a fire officer during fire alarm activations
- Respond to first aid requests and administer first aid as necessary
Manual Handling Duties
- Accept receipt of all deliveries and distribute accordingly ensuring that items have been
delivered to the correct person\/department
- Relocation and removal of furniture around the college campus
- Set up of furniture for exams and following projects
Other Responsibilities
- College corporate work wear and personal protective workwear will be provided and
must be worn as instructed
- To assist with any urgent cleaning duties which may arise during the college day
- To ensure sufficient stock levels for equipment and materials
- Drive the college minibus in accordance with driver's licence categories set out by the
DVLA
- Proactively support energy saving and recycling initiatives
- To assist with the letting of college facilities to community users
- To undertake appropriate training as required
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you must:
* Hold a full UK driving licence
* Ability to undertake manual tasks e.g. maintenance repairs\/DIY
* Ability to confidentially use all Microsoft Office publications
* Flexible attitude to working hours
* DBS checks
* Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and reliable
