Job description

Penwortham-based school with an established SLT, seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant for their reception class.

Your new company

Hays are recruiting on behalf of a Preston-based primary school, who are seeking a EYFS Teaching Assistant for their reception class, starting in September. The school is centrally located in Penwortham, a short walk from Preston train station with excellent transport links.

The schools last OFSTED inspection resulted in a \"good with outstanding characteristics\" rating, which the ambitious Headteacher would like to improve upon. The school boasts an established Senior Leadership Team (SLT), with a track record of developing and supporting their staff. Consequently, the school has always been popular for newly qualified teachers and people entering a primary education setting.

Your new role

The school are seeking an Early Years (EYFS) Teaching Assistant to work alongside a child with additional needs on a 1:1 basis, and in small groups. The child has shown signs of delayed development, and will need assistance with phonics, reading and basic comprehension. Additionally, you will run intervention sessions with small groups of lower ability children, in an attempt to bring them up to speed.

In this role, you will work closely with the class Teacher, taking a hands on approach and assisting with lesson planning.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have a childcare background. This could have been in a nursery or pre-school environment, or as a child support worker\/carer. An ability to hit the ground running and a genuine desire to make a difference is essential. A background in SEND is preferable, but not a core requirement for the role. There are no qualifications required for this role, although a Teaching Assistant qualification or similar could be advantageous.

As Hays are the schools exclusive recruitment partner, you must register with Hays to be considered for the role. Upon application, a Hays education consultant will be in touch to guide you through the registration process.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a generous rate of pay (between \u00A360 and \u00A372 per day) and gain ongoing support from a Hays education consultant, who can provide confidential careers guidance and search for appropriate roles on your behalf. As a Hays employee, you will receive access to our exclusive e-learning platform, where you can update your core modules, such as safeguarding and child protection.
