Job location Wigan, Lancashire, United Kingdom

Job type: fulltime

Job industry: Education

Job description

Axcis Education is delighted to be working with a large mainstream primary school based in Wigan who are looking for an experienced teaching assistant to join their team. The role would involve working with a year 2 pupil with challenging behaviour on a 1-1 basis with assistance from other support staff members. The successful candidate would be expected to aid in deescalating challenging behaviour, helping the child to engage with their school work and encourage positive social interactions. This would be a full time role on an ongoing basis, dependent on the relationship with the child, but with potential for the remainder of the academic year.

The role is based in a primary school which was rated as 'outstanding' by OFSTED in its most recent inspection. Particular note was given to the strength of the senior leadership team and the provisions for SEND pupils. The school is well located, less than 10 minutes drive from the M6. The nearest train station is a 30 minute walk away and there a good bus links in walking distance.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have prior experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs, ideally in a school setting. Experience with Team Teach or MAPA and other forms of de-escalation techniques will be looked upon favourably. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and have a natural talent for working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour.
