Job description
School Liaison & Events Apprentice
Fixed term contract (12 months)
Continually striving for excellence and a strong Grade 2 College, Wigan & Leigh College is well underway on its journey to become Outstanding. With over 8,000 students and a turnover of £30m, the College is in a strong position to continue to move forward and grow.
The College has distinct ambitions to expand its choice of programmes and support the economic transformation of Wigan and the surrounding areas. As a growing college we are in a strong position to continue to invest in our campuses with the development of state of the art facilities.
The College has created a community that encourages all students to enhance their learning through wider opportunities and support services; to maximise their achievements and secure progression onto further study, apprenticeships and employment.
We have an exciting apprenticeship opportunity and is a level 2 qualification.
As a School Liaison & Events apprentice, you will support the school liaison, admissions and events team to promote the College, its courses and services to maximise student recruitment. You will undertake administrative and in person activities such as; event preparation, administration and data entry, attend careers events, parents evening and student interviews, carry out telephone enquiries, tours, presentations and support schools with enterprise/careers activities. This role would suit an individual who has excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills and who has the confidence to work towards delivering presentations, assemblies and workshops. You will be organised and proactive, with a friendly, engaging personality. The role requires the candidate to drive (due to school events taking place across the borough) and therefore you must be able to drive (clean license) with access to a car. If you have a desire to progress into a career within recruitment, events, customer service and/or education - this could be the perfect apprenticeship role for you.
The College reserves the right to interview for this post should we receive suitable candidates prior to the closing date.
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employees will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. To comply with legislation, you are required to obtain a DBS check for your role. We will be asking Protocol National Ltd/Esafeguarding Ltd to undertake this process on our behalf.
Wigan and Leigh college is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
