Engineering Shift Supervisor

What you will need to succeed

* Apprentice trained

* Leadership qualification e.g. relevant ILM level 3

* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in either a mechanical or electrical discipline

* To have the forward thinking, enthusiasm, attitude and the desire to improve your team, department, factory, division and ultimately the business.

* Understanding of Root Cause Analysis techniques, fix the cause not the symptom

* Understands the importance of value when specifying parts, requirements etc.

* Previous experience leading a technical team, being the senior Engineering out of hours contact for all issues

* IOSH trained

Roles and Responsibilities

* Monitor and addresses behaviour of the team; e.g. PPE, time management, housekeeping, workmanship standards, etc.

* Ensure department and company standards are always met.

* Take ownership for ensuring contractors are effectively managed whilst on site, acting as permit controller when required

* Monitor staff absence: follow the company absence policy. Carry out return to work reviews and ensure relevant documentation (holidays, sickness, absence) is completed for shift

* Be the on-site first point of contact for Engineering concerns

* Source shift cover for holidays / absence, authorise your team's holidays ensuring that only agreed numbers of Engineers are off at any one time.

* Have effective communications in place, both internal and external to the department ensuring meetings are attended and reports are sent out in a timely manner.

* Encouraging the team to make changes to enhance service and provide a better return on work done

* Ensuring implementation of the plan, reviewing targets, monitoring progress using consistent measurement, and taking corrective action as required.

* Proactively supporting manufacturing areas within site with all maintenance requests.

* Agreeing job requirements and competencies, participating in relevant training and development and asking for support as required

* Identifying and implementing opportunities and suggestions for improvements that exist within the team and department

* Ensure the K.P.I. board is filled out prior to the Engineering tier 1 (morning) meeting.

* Ensure Planned Maintenance (PM) actions including Critical PM's (CPM) are completed, ensure effective recovery plan(s) in place for any missed PM's

What you will get in return

As a Engineering Shift Supervisor you will be paid a salary of up to £50,000
