Operations Manager - Independent Living
Location: Based in Manchester, Liverpool or Preston. This position can be home and office based at any of our sites in the North West and will cover site operations across the North West of England. Hours: 35 per week full-time, flexible to meet the needs of the organisation Contract: Fixed term contract to the end of September 2022 Salary: £32,364 to £39,626 per annum depending on experience

We have a fantastic opportunity for an; experienced, organised and motivated individual to join our Independent Living team as an Operations Manager. The job location flexible in the North, with majority of services being overseen in the North West so travel must be feasible.
You will oversee and lead the day to day function of all aspects of British Red Cross Independent Living services. These services focus on supporting people to come home from hospital and enabling them to live independently at home, preventing admission or readmission and tackling social isolation and loneliness. Reporting to the area director, this role supports the overall management and strategic direction within the area and is a key part of a national team driving growth and development of our services. Services are developed and implemented within the framework of national guidelines and to national expectations but flexed to meet local needs. The success of this post will be demonstrated by an increase in our reach of high quality care and support to vulnerable people, particularly in areas of high health inequality and will enhance the reputation and influence of British Red Cross in the field of health and social care.
In addition to the development, implementation and management of the area operating plans and budgets, you will lead, manage and develop a large service delivery team of staff and volunteers. You will ensure the area is working within Corporate Plan and to the BRC strategy; service standards are achieved and maintained, and that the team is well supported and developed.

The Independent Living (IL) & Crisis Response (CR) service (IL/CR) supports people in the space between hospital and home and responds to the needs of people in crisis following an emergency; maintaining an extensive network of external relationships across health, social care, and emergency services.
To be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent by experience)
- Experience of managing staff, volunteers, services and projects
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting or voluntary organisation and delivering high quality services to people in need
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Understanding of how to improve service quality for the benefit of users
- Comfortable working in a pressured and busy environment
- Outcomes and solutions focused; collaborative approach
- Organisational skills - planning, managing and monitoring own and others workload
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- IT literate. Experience of using Outlook, word processing, presentation and spread sheet packages
- Ability to prepare, manage and monitor budgets
- Excellent time management skills - ability to respond to and prioritise a range of competing demands.

The role will involve frontline work with vulnerable services users and will not always allow for a 2 meter social distance to be maintained. You will be asked to complete a Risk assessment to confirm you are able to take up Frontline work, at onboarding stage. If you consider yourself to be a person at greater risk from Covid or you are unable to wear a facemask for long periods of time then this role may not be suitable for you.
