Hays Education are working in partnership with this excellent independent SEN school in Norwich who require a Design and Technology Teacher for KS 3 and KS 4 pupils for January 2022. This school is easily commutable from Attleborough, Eccles, Wymondham and Thetford.

Your new school

This Special Needs school caters for students aged 7 to 16 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some of the students may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning. This school offers the perfect learning environment for each student's needs to be met so they can develop and achieve their full potential, ready when they leave to go on to further education, training or employment. Specialist teaching, together with small class sizes and a nurturing approach supports students to work at a level and pace that is right for them to achieve their goals.Focus is given to building self esteem and confidence by implementing strategies to support students' individual needs to engage in education, as well as developing their social and independence skills.

Your new role as the Design and Technology Teacher

As the Design and Technology teacher for KS 3 and KS 4 pupils you will need to:

* Set expectations and targets for pupils in relation to standards of pupil achievements and the quality of teaching.
* Work with the Head Teacher and any another other staff to ensure that Individual Education Plans are used to set subject specific targets and match work well to pupil's needs.
* Establish with the involvement of relevant staff, short, medium and long-term plans for the development and resourcing of your subject, which contribute to whole school aims, policies and practices including those in relation to behaviour, discipline, bullying and racial harassment.

To apply for this SEN Design and Technology teaching job, you must:

* Have a PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
* Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism is desirable although not essential
* Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs
* The ability to work as part of a team and support other colleagues when necessary.
* To undertake Team Teach training as directed.
* To work as reasonably directed by the Head teacher and undertake any other non-specified duties appropriate to the post.
