Job description

Empowering Learning are supporting a Multi-Academy Trust who are seeking to appoint an experienced SENCo (2-3 days per week) within one of their Primary schools based in Norfolk from January 2022 on an interim basis.

As the SENCo within this particular school, you will provide vision, leadership and management on all aspects of SEND and safeguarding provision in accordance with the academy and national relevant policies.

You will liaise with staff, external agencies and parents, developing and support personalised learning strategies to ensure all pupils are able to access their full curriculum entitlement.

KEY REQUIREMENTS / KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Ensure effective systems are in place to accurately identify SEND pupils.
  • Manage and conduct appropriate monitoring and evaluation procedures, including lesson observations, to check on the effectiveness of SEND provision.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate records for SEND individuals are kept and are accessible to all relevant staff.
  • Ensure that transition points are as smooth as possible for SEND students.
  • Use and apply data effectively to ensure student progress is monitored against targets and prompt action is taken to address any concerns.
  • Work in partnership with the SLT to ensure SEND pupils are fully supported to overcome any barriers to learning.
  • Report regularly on the progress of SEND students to a range of audiences including Governors and parents.
  • Deliver staff training on strategies which support the progress of SEND pupils.
  • Work in partnership with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure safeguarding procedures are regularly reviewed and rigorously implemented.
  • Develop opportunities for enhancing the curriculum experience for students including the provision of booster classes and other extension activities.
  • Support the provision in the Specialist Resource Base.
