Hays Education are working in partnership with an independent SEN school near Norwich and are looking for a senior teacher looking to move into as Assistant Headteacher role. This Assistant Headteacher role will be for the primary phase of the school. This school is easily commutable from Attleborough, Eccles, Wymondham and Thetford. This school caters for students aged 7 to 19 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.

About the role of Assistant Headteacher:

Under the overall direction of the Head Teacher, the Assistant Headteacher will play a major role:

* in formulating the aims, objectives of the schools and establishing the policies through which they are to be achieved
* be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement
* proactively manage staff and resources
* Take on the responsibilities of the Head Teacher as agreed and appropriate in the absence of the Head Teacher
* To manage the day-to-day operation of the school in conjunction with the Head Teacher and other leaders
* Carry out the professional duties of a teacher as required
* Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school

To apply for the role of Assistant Headteacher, you must have QTS.

In addition the following knowledge, skills and experience are essential:

* Recent experience of working successfully as a senior or middle leader in a school.
* Evidence of a whole school responsibility and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice.
* Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
* A clear understanding of the essential qualities necessary for effective teaching and learning.
* Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance relating to the post.
* Demonstrate high quality teaching strategies.
* Support, motivate and inspire both colleagues and pupils by leading through example.
* Contribute effectively to the work of the headteacher and senior leadership team.
* Deal successfully with situations that may include tackling difficult situations and conflict resolution.
* Work successfully with a range of external agencies.
