Job description

Practice Accountant

Our client is the largest network of accountants, currently working from over 300 locations throughout the UK, who focus their accountancy skills specifically on small businesses and taxpayers needing a tax return in the UK. They specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings and tax advice to small businesses. They have 80,000 clients including Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited Companies and Personal Taxpayers.

They are currently looking for a Practice Accountant to join their office. This is a permanent position, working full time (9.00am - 5pm, Monday - Friday).

Duties will include:

Liaising with clients.
Being commercially aware and looking for opportunities.
Helping clients become digital.
Bookkeeping.
VAT return preparation taking on MTD aspects.
Limited company accounts preparation and CT600's.
Sole trader, partnership, Rental accounts - Personal tax returns preparation.
Company secretarial processes.
Ad hoc work as required to facilitate things such as migrating clients to software.

Ideal candidate experience requirements:

Minimum 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice is essential.
Part qualified ACCA or AAT or more substantial experience but without qualifications.
Software - TaxCalc, QuickBooks, Xero, Autoentry and Brightpay or similar payroll software.
Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge (Pivot Tables, SUMIF and Lookups).
Dealing with HMRC.
Payroll & CIS awareness.

Qualities:

Comfortable talking to small business owners about their accounts and tax returns at their level.
Good communicator with a proactive, enthusiastic and customer-focused approach.
Ability to multi-task and manage allocated workload.
Reliable, discrete and confidential with good attention to detail.
Flexible, adaptable and a team player.
A desire to progress with a can do attitude.

Benefits and opportunities:

Salary £25,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience.
This is a permanent position.
Hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Remote working only available in emergency.
Initial 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
