Community Support Worker, Adult Community Eating Disorder Team, Oxford - Band 4

We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Support Worker to join the Community Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team in Oxford. This is an exciting time for our team due to the planned development of a new service model for community, day-patient and inpatient services across Oxfordshire. We are also involved in the development of New Care Models/Provider Collaboratives which will transform the way inpatient services are delivered across the country.

The post is based at the Warneford Hospital site, Oxford. Our service provides a stepped-care model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community.

The community multi-disciplinary team is comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nursing Staff, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and Team Administrators. We are moving towards the development of a life span service and have good links with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services and also the Adult Community Eating Disorders service in Buckinghamshire.

The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development and service evaluation. We have good supervision and operational structures. The service is committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the treatment of patients recovering from eating disorders at key stages of their recovery. The overall role is to provide advice and support to patients and their carers; to offer specialist Carers' Assessments, focusing on positive outcomes. The role also involves liaison with the community mental health teams, inpatient wards and other agencies.
