Summary
Our client and Homeless Oxfordshire are working in partnership to develop an exciting and creative service with the shared aim of reducing the risk of individuals becoming homeless. They are looking for a Complex Needs Caseworker (Embedded Homelessness Prevention) based in Oxfordshire.

Full time, fixed term 12 months
37.5 hours per week, occasional 'on-call' during evenings and weekends may be required

About the Role
As Complex Needs Caseworker, you will be working with a small caseload of adults living in Homeless Oxfordshire accommodation and require additional support to maintain permanent accommodation or move on from temporary accommodation to permanent tenancies.
You will endeavour to support clients with improving their self-esteem, a more positive identity and gain the skills which will enable them to lead lives with greater independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Engaging creatively with individuals who have complex needs (significant multiple, often interdependent, health and social difficulties) and who find it difficult to engage with services.
Working collaboratively with the team at Homeless Oxfordshire, while also being part of the floating support team.
Carrying out work to a high standard whilst having the opportunity to be part of an excellent evaluation process.
Ensuring the health & safety and safeguarding of clients and staff.
Assessing referrals made by Homeless Oxfordshire and making recommendations about suitability of this service to meet their needs.
Actively assessing risk and work within the company and Homeless Oxfordshire's risk management procedures.
Supporting clients to move on to permanent accommodation using a housing-led approach where intensive preparation for move on and resettlement support may be required.
The Ideal Candidate
As Complex Needs Caseworker, you will be working with individuals falling through the gaps of existing services by using an assertive outreach model, and our supportive team approach to help people improve their lives and integrate into the community. You should have:
At least 18 months' experience of working with homeless people, people who have mental-health problems and who those with additional support needs related to drugs, alcohol, homelessness, offending behaviour, antisocial behaviour, teenage pregnancy, child protection or challenging or chaotic behaviour.
A clear understanding of the issues faced by people with support needs, particularly those which might arise when dealing with clients in a community setting.
Knowledge of appropriate services that clients may need support to access
Experience of working with people who are difficult to engage.
To be able to proactively assess risk and adhere to risk procedures.
To have a good understanding of safeguarding and what may constitute "abuse".
Experience of joint working with other agencies.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience of working as part of a team.
The ability to keep accurate casework records, database records and maintain filing systems.
IT literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and use of databases).
A good understanding of the principles of equality and diversity and the Single Equality Act 2010.
Experience of working independently and managing own case load.
The ability to work autonomously in line with policies and procedures.
The ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
