The Role:
Working for the company Electrical Maintenance Department, the purpose of this role is to ensure uninterrupted operation of the assets operating in the Cast House by reducing unplanned downtime, equipment failures and breakdowns while ensuring all assets are maintained adequately to operate within their designed capabilities.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing electrical maintenance requirements for the machines and infrastructure within the area.
* Implementation and maintenance of Safe Operating Practices in the area relating to planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
* Working with the Area Operations Manager and the rest of the area team to implement electrical maintenance during maintenance days and shutdowns.
* Supervision of planned and preventative maintenance, condition monitoring and spares sourcing.
* Responding to break downs and emergency repair situations in a timely and efficient fashion.
* Supervising the activities of Maintenance Electricians/technicians as necessary
* Supervision of contractors as required ensuring that RAMS are provided and adhered to.
* Provide technical support for meeting the operational equipment reliability level for the area of responsibility
* Trouble shoot and resolve technical problems/issues in order to get assets back in running condition aiming at minimising disruption and cost
* Responsible for maintenance or emergency repairs/inspections; ensure all documentation is delivered and recommendations or actions are followed up through to completion
* Investigate and resolve all Electrical and Automation related issues in the area of responsibility
* Responsible for ensuring all engineering technicians' tasks/jobs are logged to the CMMS system alongside with relevant information
* Monitor departmental daily check list data to identify key asset and sub-asset parameters that are of concern and propose corrective actions/measures
* Provide technical assistance, guidance and support to area maintenance technicians
* Contribute in the evaluation of conceptual engineering plans; review the designs and plans according to required specifications
* Conducting chronic and recurring Failure Elimination/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies as required; help implement, track and report the corrective actions with respect to its effectiveness in eliminating the problem(s)
* Participate along with the maintenance team in the cold/hot commissioning and start up activities of assets and equipment
* Ensure the Collection of data, drawings and documentation related to engineering maintenance from project contractor and vendors; review and check these are complete as per project/equipment contract specifications
* Assist in the planning of Reliability Centralised Maintenance (RCM) by assessing asset and sub-asset criticality rankings, performing failure analysis and recommending mitigation strategies
* Identify equipment critical spare parts; determine optimum quantity required on site (stores) and raise stock request forms
* Propose CAPEX projects to improve equipment availability and resolve recurring problems; assist in projects review, supervision and implementation
Skils Essential to the Role:
Higher National Certificate or HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, i.e. Automation or Control discipline.
3-5 years of engineering experience in a similar field or industry
Working knowledge of relevant electrical/control principles and practices demonstrated in a relevant industry in engineering and/or maintenance fields
Good working knowledge of engineering procedures and systems to fulfil the Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities
Good Data gathering techniques and various systems for organizing and interpreting data
Ability to accurately compile, interpret and make use of data and other information to address electrical and control problems
Working knowledge of CAD package(s)
Computer proficiency and potential in data management and project planning and performance of engineering functions including but not limited on MS Office software
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
Ability to read and understand technical writing, electrical drawings and documentation
