Job description
What is the purpose of this role?
Responsible for the delivery of all works associated with the work program. Manage a Geographical focused Team of Internal & External Staff, Site Agents, Direct Labour, and a number of approved appointed DSPs ensuring effective overall performance of cost, safety, quality and continuous improvement measures, working as part of a team in a conductive manner for the overall benefit of the delivery activity. Ensure that the Contract performs to Turnover & Contribution Targets. Creating close working local relationships with clients & Local Authorities, managing their expectations, delivering high, professional standards and championing excellent customer service.
What will this role involve?
Responsibility for delivery of all activities to cost, time, quality and safety targets including customer performance
Responsible for P&L- ensuring that the Contract performs to actual cost v forecast cost using all commercial reports developed
Responsibility for ensuing all teams are trained and competent to undertake any work issued and all outstanding training is kept to a minimum
Responsibility for ensuring reinstatement works is of high quality and that poor performance is accurately managed and training is given to ensure compliance
Monitor and review all delivery and financial performance, and take corrective actions to address abnormalities, including updating commercial and finance teams
Approve DSP Invoices and ensure payment within contract timescales
Approve and Challenge Purchase Orders
Completion of Timesheets for Direct Employees
Accountable for driving a customer focused workforce
Accountable for customer complaints, either verbal or written
Responsible for maintaining healthy and professional relationships with clients
Ensure that all plant and fleet is fully productive
Manage employee attendance & Sickness in line with HR Policy
Ensure that Weekly Plant Checks are undertaken and that all Updates are changed on the Shopping Cart
Ensuring HSEQ and Customer is at the heart of everything undertaken
Responsible for the performance and behaviours of all teams
Manage the productivity and utilisation of Direct Labour and DSPs and their operatives in line with Client SLAs and the work programme.
Full accountability for safety and compliance auditing
Ensure that all Drivers are compliant and Daily Vehicle Checks are completed
Ensure that you are familiar with the Companies Management Systems- WMS- WM Reports- AMS- Fleet & Plant Shopping Carts
Manage Defects and close all within designated time frame
Daily Defect and Drivers Hours Reports to be collected on a daily basis & kept on file
Ensuring all work is compliant with statutory obligations
Compliance of teams with all company rules, policies and procedures
Authorise, procure and oversee the effective use of tools, equipment, transport, protective clothing and workwear
Manage all out of hours resource requirements
Work on Standby for Weekend and Out of Hours requirements as and when require
Ensuring construction teams have appropriate plant and materials
Liaising with various bodies including the client, local authority, police and public
Contributing to the pre work site survey process and return the relevant and appropriate information to the programme team as and when required
Identifying and assists the co-ordination of the resource to ensure effective delivery.
Carrying out regular site visits to maximise effective delivery as determined by the short-term programme and safety compliance
Delivering effective staff briefings and safety information including local training as agreed
Identifying any problem areas associated with delivery or welfare and take action to resolve them
Maintaining accurate records of work updating records on completion
Ensure that all job packs are progressed within 7 days of completion
Ensure any remedial work action is carried out within acceptable time frames and appropriate action taken to ensure future prevention
Liaise and agree with contractor's construction methods, design solutions and specifications on nonstandard works ordersWhat are we looking for?
Qualifications
IOSH safety certificate
Must be able to drive and have a current, valid driving licence
An up-to-date supervisor's street work card
Skills
Good appreciation of the relevant company procedures required
Resource utilisation and control
Strong coaching, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
A good understanding of operational activities and trade skill
Financial awareness and ability to work to budgets
Understanding of resource scheduling to include effective prioritising in an ever-changing environment
Experience
A working knowledge of disciplinary and capability procedures
A working knowledge of accident investigation procedure
Experience of a similar role in a construction environment ideally for at least 12 monthsExperience in team development
