Support Assistant

Oleander House, Telford

£10.00

37.5 hours per week - on a 2 week rolling rota

We are seeking a Support Assistant to join our small, friendly and supportive team and make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Set in the heart of Ketley Millennium Village, Oleander House has 12 one-bedroom apartments. We provide care and support for adults aged 18-65, with a range of learning disabilities, encouraging them to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

Supporting the Project Workers with key-working duties and file keeping
Providing a high quality, hands-on support service
Supporting residents to build the confidence they need to gain further independence
Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our residents
Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
Helping to maintain professional relationships with residents and their families to support their identified wishes and needs

Skills and experiences:

Previous experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those who have learning disabilities is desirable
A caring, approachable nature and a confident 'can-do' attitude
Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information to team members
Literacy and numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Mathematics, is essential
NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards, is desirable
