KS1 Teaching Assistant Job in a Primary School in Telford
Your New School
You will be working in one of our long-lasting partnered schools. This Primary School is a part of the Telford and Wrekin Local Authority, supports the ages 4 - 11 and has recently been rated 'Good' by Ofsted.
Your New Role
You will be required to work as a Teaching Assistant across KS1. This is an important role in supporting the teacher and helping the children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. The planning of learning activities under the direction of the teacher, making sure that the pupils you support can engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson \/ activity so that they can become independent learners. As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you are of support to the teacher, and you may be responsible for working 1 to 1 with pupils or in small groups to provide more direct teaching. Furthermore, as a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you may be left responsible with a class all by yourself.
This school has over 400 pupils and is a two-form entry which means every year has large classes. Therefore, you should have strong communication skills and be dedicated to ensuring pupils receive support with any issues they may have as well as the overall academic progression of children.
To start with it will be a temporary position at the school beginning from January, going on until the end of the academic year. This will be a full-time role, working hours being 8:30 - 15:30 Monday to Friday. However, training sessions (which you may be invited to) may go on up until 4:30 once every half term.
What you'll need to succeed
You should have recent experience within a classroom setting in the last 3 years & previous experience in KS1. This job is open to NQT'S\/ECT's but at minimum, you will need a Level 2\/3 Teaching Assistant Qualification. The school are looking for a confident and engaging person that can always maintain a professional manner as this role may be physically and emotionally demanding. We would require you to be patient and have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. What we would also require from you is to have active listening skills and the ability to understand people's reactions.
